Teresa Fischer & Terry Wolfert
of Parx Productions

Teresa Fischer and Terry Wolfert are not just business partners but also life partners. They started Fables, Fantasy & Fairy Tales in November 1991 out of a desire to create original hand crafted items that took the viewer away to another world and relieved the stress of day to day life in the middle of a recession.

Through customer feedback and their own personal fascination with fairies, their business evolved to producing original hand crafted fairies from porcelain.

Today Teresa and Terry sell their unique creations at craft shows and through galleries across North America.

Their fairies have flown all over the world and can be found in collections in Australia, Japan, Argentina, England, France, Holland and beyond.

Fairy Collectible Figurines

If you can see with a child’s eye there is a world full of color, joy and wonder to be seen. The fairy realm reminds us to keep this joy and creativity alive. Each cave and hollow tree has a doorway to another world. Every flower, leaf and blade of grass has a story to tell. Streams sing and the winds whisper ancient secrets into the ears of those who will listen.

The best places to find fairies are in the “tween places” like forks in the road, where streams divide or border hedges; the best time to find them is in the “tween times” like dusk or dawn. Until you are attuned to the fairy realm you may not see their approach, however, an unexplained ripple in water or a sudden chill may indicate their presence and their wish for you to join them.

They range in size from the very very tiny flower fairies often smaller than a firefly to the great stone divas and the fairies that guide the wind.

They have vast storehouses of knowledge and wealth that they will bestow on us. All of the gifts and help they give have been touched with magic. They will bring us romance and true love, open doorways to success, and reveal to us all the great treasures of the earth. Above all else they work to alleviate our pain and suffering, serving as our guardians and helping us grow.

Fresh flowers and laughter are the best ways of attracting fairies to you for as we know just as each flower has its own fairy each tear that is shed from laughter creates a new fairy.

Step 1: Pouring the Porcelain, Cleaning and Firing

Porcelain slip is injected into the fairy mold. It is allowed to set and then the porcelain greenware is removed from the mold. The greenware is then cleaned of any ridges and defects and features are defined. The greenware is then fired in a kiln to become the porcelain we see in the fairy now.

Step 2: Painting the Fairy

The features of the fairy are carefully painted in china paints and then the fairy is fired in the kiln to set the paint onto the porcelain. The painting occurs in stages and each fairy is painted and then fired two to three times.

Step 3: Making the Fairy Body

The fairy bodies are designed to a precise pattern and cut out of felt to allow maximum flexibility and durability. Pipe cleaner wire is inserted to allow the fairy to be posed and then the limbs and breastplate are attached. Much of the body is hand stitched as it is too small to be done by machine.

Step 4: Dressing the Fairy

The intricate work of dressing the fairies is all done with hand stitching. They are dressed in a very fine lace that is usually white but can be dyed a particular colour. Flower petal fairies have been dressed in carefully placed petals taken from silk blossoms.

Step 5: Making the Fairy Wig

The wig is made from very fine Viscose fibres and it is designed directly on the head of the fairy using lots of patience and glue. Curls which have been made by wrapping sections of hair around tooth picks and then baking them, are added to the fairies head where appropriate. Hand made silk flower buds are added at this stage to complete the fairy.

Step 6: Making the Fairy Setting

Each fairy setting is lovingly selected and designed to enhance the grace and whimsy of the fairies. We are on a constant search to develop ideas and designs in which a fairy could be found. The bases are made from wood and lined with felt to protect your furniture. Music boxes are added where appropriate.

Each fairy can be moved and posed to suit various settings. You are free to choose a setting and put any of the fairies into it. Any of the fairies may also be purchased individually.
